So, earlier I was on YouTube and heard about a woman who was on TikTok “Blackfishing”. I had never heard the term, but it’s evidently an adaptation from the word “Catfishing” which is pretending to be someone you’re not online.
“Blackfishing” is when someone who is not black goes online and pretends to be, sometimes with the assistance of skin darkening agents.
I’m not sure how prevalent the practice is, but to me it makes utterly no sense. Why can’t people just be happy with the way they really are?
